LAURIDSEN: Lux Aeterna

HANDEL: Choruses from Samson, Theodora, Semele

Deborah Jenkins Teske and the Colorado Springs Chorale launch the 62nd season with a performance with orchestra of Morten Lauridsen’s sublime Lux Aeterna. Explore with us the ‘fire’ of human mortality and the ‘light’ of redemption and transcendence through the music of George Frideric Handel, and of Morten Lauridsen, a 2007 recipient of the National Medal of Arts. Find out why Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna is one of the most-performed choral works of the late 20th century. English supertitles will be provided. The performance will last approximately 90 minutes and a reception will follow.

"Descriptions of his [Lauridsen's] music most often include words like radiant, inspiring, uplifting, inspirational, sublime, and even at that do not do justice to the effect they have on audiences and performers around the world."
