Colorado Springs Chorale’s Chefs’ Gala 2009 Announces Winners

An enthusiastic and appreciative crowd attending the Colorado Springs Chorale’s 24th Annual Chefs’ Gala last night applauded the selection of Eric Viedt of the Margarita at PineCreek as “Best of Show” and “First Place – Entrées,” and, in addition, honored Veidt with the “People’s Choice” award. Veidt, duplicating his People’s Choice award of last year, was recognized for his “Sauerbraten Style Braised Beef Cheeks, Mustard-Smoked Bacon Spaetzle, and Horse Radish-Pretzel Gremolata.” This is the first time since 1999 that this rare triple honor has occurred. Chefs’ Gala is a competition between 23 chefs from the finest restaurants and caterers in the region in the categories of appetizers, entrées and desserts, during which attendees get to sample the chefs’ entries. It raises funds for the continued performances of the 120-voice auditioned adult Colorado Springs Chorale community chorus.
