• Sing one prepared selection.  It need not be in a foreign language or be memorized.  Present an aria or song from an opera, oratorio, or cantata (sacred or secular), an art song, or a concert arrangement of a folk song, hymn, or Broadway excerpt - none of these selections to exceed 3 minutes.  Do no use selections from a hymnal.  Despite their beauty, hymns utilize a limited vocal range.  And, of course, no "Pop Songs," as evaluating vocal skill is difficult there, as well.  If you have any questions regarding an appropriate selection, do not hesitate to call.  Please bring a copy of your music for the accompanist.
• Vocalize simple scales to determine voice range.
• Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in learning new music (repeating intervals and reading music). 

This is also an opportunity to receive feedback on your singing quality.  In the event your voice is not a match, please do not despair!   We will also provide feedback on voice training  and correction, as well as provide you with a list of voice instructors and coaches who charge their own fees but may have openings for initial instruction or a  hearing of your audition piece.  Some members re-audition and are accepted into the Chorale after some additional coaching and corrective instruction.

The determination made by the Audition Committee will be given to you by mail within 2-3 days.
